Regatta Capital Group (RCG) has confirmed A$2.3 billion in funding for Bioenergy Group (BEG) to support the development and construction of a portfolio of low carbon liquid fuel projects in Queensland.
The commitment establishes a multi-project funding platform through which RCG will progressively deploy capital as construction of individual projects progresses.
BEG’s projects will use agricultural and organic feedstocks to produce renewable biogas, which can be upgraded to renewable gas, used to generate green electricity or processed downstream into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel.
The initial portfolio will utilise anaerobic digestion to produce SAF and renewable diesel, creating an integrated approach to renewable energy and low carbon liquid fuel production.
Construction of the first project in the portfolio, located in Bundaberg, has already commenced with the first renewable fuels expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2028.
The A$2.3 billion facility reflects RCG’s strategy of providing long-term capital to major Australian projects in sectors where significant investment is required to move from development into construction and commercial operation.
“Our investment in BEG reflects our approach to backing strong Australian projects with the long-term capital required to move from development into delivery. The A$2.3 billion commitment provides a framework to fund multiple projects as they achieve agreed milestones, rather than approaching each project as a standalone investment.”Draft quote · attribution pending
RCG will work alongside BEG on project structuring, capital deployment, development sequencing and delivery coordination, while BEG will lead project development and technical implementation.
The portfolio will establish commercial-scale domestic SAF and renewable diesel capacity, create new opportunities for Australian agriculture and regional communities, and strengthen domestic energy and fuel security.
“The commitment from Regatta Capital provides BEG with a long-term capital framework to develop multiple projects in parallel and progressively move our Queensland project pipeline into construction and commercial operation.”Draft quote · attribution pending
The investment also establishes a repeatable funding and development model through which additional BEG projects may be incorporated as the portfolio expands and projects satisfy agreed investment criteria.
For RCG, the commitment represents a significant investment in Australian renewable energy infrastructure and reflects the Group’s strategy of deploying flexible, long-duration capital into projects capable of delivering long-term economic and infrastructure value.
